Ken Griffey Jr.'s 600th Home Run


The Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr, hits a 3-1 pitch off Mark Hendrickson into the seats for his 600th career home run. Griffey is only the sixth player in major league history to hit 600 home runs. The Reds go on to defeat the Florida Marlins 9-4.

Buster Posey Injured In Collision At Home Plate

May 25, 2011. San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey is injured in a collision at home plate with Scott Cousins of the Florida Marlins. Posey is lost for the season with a broken left fibula, and three torn ligaments in his left ankle. The injuries require surgery to repair, and MLB begins to look at home plate collisions which leads to changes in regulating plays at home plate.

Al Leiter Tosses Marlins' No-Hitter


May 11, 1996. Southpaw Al Leiter tossed the first no-hitter in Marlins history, an 11-0 win over the Colorado Rockies. Leiter a two-time All-Star enjoyed a very successful career with a won-loss record of 162-132 with an ERA of 3.80. He fanned 1,974 hitters during the course of his major league career.

Andre Dawson Hits 400th Home Run


April 15, 1993. Playing for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park,  Andre "The Hawk" Dawson launched his 400th career home run. In his career he would be an eight time All-Star, 8-time Gold Glove winner, 4 time Silver Slugger winner, 1987 MVP, and was 1977 Rookie of the Year in the National League. In 2010, The Hawk was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
