Curt Schilling Records 200th Win



May 27, 2006. Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling beats the Devil Rays 6-4 to win his 200th game. He is the 104th pitcher in major league history to accomplish this feat. Schilling would finish his career 216-146 with an ERA 3.46, and had 3,116 strikeouts.

Jake Peavy Sets Padres Strikeout Record


May 22, 2006.  Jake Peavy sets the San Diego Padres franchise record by striking out 16 Atlanta Braves. In 2007, Peavy would tie his own record by fanning 16 Arizona Diamondbacks.

Justin Verlander's 2,000th Strikeout


Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander got Eddie Rosiaro of the Minnesota Twins to chase a pitch up and out of the strike zone for his 2,000th career whiff. Verlander is only the second pitcher in Tigers history to top the 2,000 strikeouts mark, and only the 76th in MLB history to top the mark.  Mickey Lolich is the franchise leader at 2,679.

Kerry Wood Makes Final Appearance


May 18, 2012. Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood calls it a career making his last appearance against the Chicago White Sox. The final batter Wood faces is Dayan Viciedo, Wood fans Viciedo walks off the mound to the hug of his young son.

Ben Sheets Strikes Out 18 Braves


May 16, 2004. The Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Ben Sheets whiffs 18 Atlanta Braves to set a new team record. He is only the 14th pitcher in Major League Baseball history to strikeout out 18 or more in a nine inning game.  He breaks the record of Moose Haas, who had 14 strikeouts in 1978.

Felix Hernandez Registers 2,000th Strikeout


May 15, 2015. Felix Hernandez whiffs the Oakland A's Sam Fuld to become the fourth youngest pitcher to the 2,000 strike out mark. The Mariners go on to beat the A's 4-3. Only Bert Blyleven, Walter Johnson, and Sam McDowell were younger we they reached 2,000 strikeouts.

Steve Carlton Registers 3,000th Strike


April 29, 1981, Steve Carlton of the Philadelphia Phillies strikes out his 3,000th hitter. Tim Wallach is the victim in a 6-2 Phillies win at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. He becomes the sixth pitcher in Major League Baseball history to accomplish the feat, and is the first southpaw to do so.
