Stormin' Gorman Thomas
Gorman
Thomas was one of the most popular players in Milwaukee Brewers history. He hit
268 home runs with 782 RBI. His career battling was .225/.324/.448.
Thomas
was a solid defender in centerfield until injuring his shoulder near the end of
his career. He was part of the Brewers only World Series team. The 1982 Brewers
were a hard hitting club that won the American League Pennant. Managed by
Harvey Kuehn and were called Harvey ’s
Wallbangers.
Thomas
would have his best season in 1979. He would hit 45 home runs and drive in 123
runs. He led the league in home runs, and would lead the league again in 1982
with 39. Five times in his career he hit 30 plus home runs in a season. He was
also known for striking out, but remained popular with the Brewer faithful.
One
season after going the World Series the Brewers dealt the popular outfielder to
the Cleveland Indians in June of 1983. He would play for the Seattle Mariners
from 1984-986, and finished the balance of the 1986 back with the Milwaukee
Brewers.

Pat Venditte Switch Pitcher
Switch
pitcher Pat Venditte made his major league debut with the Oakland Athletics on
June 5, 2015 pitching two scoreless innings.
Venditte
of this writing has a 2-2 mark in the major leagues with an ERA of 4.97. He has
pitched for the Oakland A’s, Toronto Blue Jays,
and is currently pitching at AAA
Leigh Valley
in the Phillies organization.
He
is the first ambidextrous since Tony Mullane, who pitched in the Dead Ball Era.
Greg A. Harris pitched to batters left handed after enjoying a 15 year career
right hand pitcher.

Cal Ripken Jr. Hits Three Home Runs
May 28, 1996. Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. hits three home runs and knocks in eight runs in a 12-8 victory over the Seattle Mariners at the Kingdome. Ripken hits a grand slam, and two two-run homers, and his brother Billy gets in on the act with a home run of his own.

Kenny Griffey, Jr. Hits Number 200
May 21, 1996. Ken Griffey, jr., becomes the eighth youngest hitter to hit 200 home runs. He accomplishes the feat at Fenway Park in Boston. Of the seven players that hit 200 home run mark, six are in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Mike Trout Hits For The Cycle. May 21, 2013
May 21, 2013. In a 12-0 rout of the Seattle Mariners, 21-year old outfielder Mike Trout becomes the youngest player in player in American League history to hit for the cycle. He is the sixth player in the Angels franchise history to hit for the cycle.

Chris Hoiles Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam
May 17, 2016. Baltimore Orioles catcher Chris Hoiles hits a walk-off grand slam home run off Seattle Mariner reliever Norm Charlton. The Orioles entered the ninth inning trailing the Mariners 13-10, when on a 3-2 pitch with two out Hoiles hit the game winner. The first time in Major League Baseball history that a grand slam had been hit with two out on a full count.

Felix Hernandez Registers 2,000th Strikeout
May 15, 2015. Felix Hernandez whiffs the Oakland A's Sam Fuld to become the fourth youngest pitcher to the 2,000 strike out mark. The Mariners go on to beat the A's 4-3. Only Bert Blyleven, Walter Johnson, and Sam McDowell were younger we they reached 2,000 strikeouts.

May 10, 1999. Boston Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra hits two grand slams in the same game in a 12-4 rout over the Seattle Mariners. Garciapparra adds a two-run homer for a ten RBI game. He becomes the first American League player since 1975 to accomplish the feat.

May 6, 1982. Gaylord Perry goes the distance beating the New York Yankees 7-3 at the Kingdome. Perry will finish his career with 314 wins. He is the 15th pitcher to win 300 games in major league history.

Dan Wilson Hits Inside-The-Park-Grand Slam
May 3, 1998. Catcher Dan Wilson of the Seattle Mariners in the first inning against the Detroit Tigers hits an inside-the-park grand slam home run. The Mariners go on to beat the Tigers 10-6. It is the first inside-the-park home run in Mariners history.

Mike Cameron Hits Four Home Runs
May 2, 2002, Mike Cameron of the Seattle Mariners hits four home runs against the Chicago White Sox in a 15-4 thrashing. Cameron just misses hitting a fifth home run in the game. He is the thirteenth player in major league history to hit four home runs in a game.

Baseball History: Mariners Acquire Randy Johnson
April 25, 1989, the Seattle Mariners trade their starter Mark Langston, and minor league player Mike Campbell to the Montreal Expos for Brian Holman, Gene Harris, and a lefty named Randy Johnson. Johnson would anchor the Mariners staff for the next ten seasons. He would finish with a 130-74 record with a 3.42 ERA in Seattle. He would be a ten time All-Star, win five Cy Young Awards, a World Series Most Valuable Player Award, pitched both a no-hitter and a perfect game. He also pitched for the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Arizona Diamondbacks, and San Francisco Giants. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.

Chris Bosio Tosses No-Hitter
On April 22, 1993, Chris Bosio of the Seattle Mariners walks the first two hitters in the game, but proceeds to retire the next 27 batter for a no-hitter. The no-hitter is preserved on the last out of the game when defensive wizard shortstop Omar Vizquel makes a bare-hand play, and throw to first to end the game. Bosio will have a won-loss record 94-93 in a career with the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Seattle Mariners. Bosio has enjoyed a successful career as a pitching coach, and currently holds that position with the Chicago Cubs.

Phil Humber Hurls Perfect Game
On this day on April 21, 2012, the Phil Humber of the Chicago White Sox hurls a perfect game at SafeCo Field in Seattle as the White Sox down the Mariners 4-0. He becomes the third White Sox pitchers to accomplish the feat in team history. Humber struggled throughout his career finishing with a 16-23 record with an ERA of 5.31. He signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres for 2016, but opted to retire on March 29, 2016.
