Jose Canseco Uses His Head




May 26, 1993. Carlos Martinez of the Cleveland Indians hits  fly ball to right-field that is misplayed by Texas Rangers outfielder Jose Canseco. The ball hits Canseco hits the right-fielder in the head, and goes over the wall for a home run. The Indians go on to win the game 7-6.

Angel Pagan Hits Walk-Off Inside-The-Park Home Run


May 25, 2013. San Francisco Giants outfielder Angel Pagan hits a two run inside-the-park walk-off home run in the 10th inning giving the Giants a 6-5 win over the Colorado Rockies. Bill Terry was the last to accomplish the feat for the Giants in 1931 at the Polo Grounds.

Kenny Griffey, Jr. Hits Number 200



May 21, 1996. Ken Griffey, jr., becomes the eighth youngest hitter to hit 200 home runs. He accomplishes the feat at Fenway Park in Boston. Of the seven players that hit 200 home run mark, six are in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Dave Kingman Hits A Homer Over Waveland


Dave Kingman was known for his majestic home runs, poor defense, and surly disposition. In his career he blasted 442 home runs with 1,210 RBI. Kingman was a three time All-Star, and won home run twice in 1979, and 1982 in the National League. Kingman became the first player with over 400 home runs that wasn't elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Butch Henry's Inside-The-Park Home Run


May 8, 1992. Houston Astro southpaw pitcher Butch Henry becomes the first player to have an inside-the-park home run as their first major league hit. Henry slashed a line drive off the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Doug Drabek. It would be the only home run of Henry's career.

Mike Schmidt Hits His 500th Home Run


April 18, 1987. Mike Schmidt hammers his 500th career home run. The home run is hit off Don Robinson at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh. It is hit in the ninth inning sending the Philadelphia Phillies to an 8-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. He becomes the 14th hitter in Major League Baseball history to top the 500 home runs mark.

Ken Griffey Jr. First Career Home Run



On this day in baseball history Ken Griffey jr. connected on the first pitch he saw at the Kingdome off the White Sox's Eric King for a home run. It is his father Ken Griffey Sr's birthday, he is an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds. It is the first of the 630 home runs that he would hit in his career

Griffey, or Junior as he was known was an 13 times All-Star, awarded with 10 Gold Gloves, 7 Silver Slugger award, 1997 American League MVP, and will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 2016.
